The pre-order page for Pivot is up!
It’s out August 30 – though in a fun Amazon glitch, you can evidently order a print copy now. So feel free to do that, if you’re so inclined! (You have to wait to buy the ebook.)
Pivot is the second rom-com in my Love Where You Work series, of which the eponymous title was the first.
I’ve been quietly working on Pivot for months now. I actually wrote the epilogue first and I won’t spoil it for you, but it’s my favorite part of the story.
Here’s the full description:
A laugh-out-loud queer rom-com like no other!
After a disastrous and publicly humiliating rejection at a cosplay convention, naive yet hopeful romantic Paula Suarez is left with another crushing failure in her quest for love – and her dream of becoming a costume designer. But when she stumbles upon feisty mixed-race journalist Nita Funmaker, a friendship blossoms which may soon grow into something much more.
Embroiled in a bitter divorce and immersed in pursuing her latest scoop, Nita isn’t sure if she’s ready for another try at love. But with her father’s paper on the ropes and her ex still hounding her, maybe a bit of fun and relaxation is exactly what she needs.
Drawn together by a series of increasingly amusing and absurd events – from Paula joining an underground drag wrestling show to Nita’s secret passion for ice skating – Paula and Nita must navigate their increasingly tumultuous emotions, help each other face their deepest fears, and maybe even find true love along the way.
As a fun and light queer romantic comedy with a dash of banter, a few spicy scenes, and plenty of laugh-out-loud hilarity, Pivot is a delightful and emotional read that’s perfect for fans of authors including Casey McQuiston and Karelia Stetz-Waters.
As with my other rom-com, Pivot is about how one of the biggest obstacles in love is usually … ourselves. And how we learn to get out of our own ways.
I’ll be writing more about the book and the motivations behind it and the interesting challenges of writing a hard-of-hearing character (even though I am deaf!) in the coming weeks…
But for now – I need your help!
I’m looking for people who want to read an electronic ARC (advance reader copy) in exchange for leaving an honest review when it comes out, August 30, (on Amazon, preferably, but Goodreads also works if you’re not a fan of the ‘zon.)
If you’re into:
- unabashed queer joy
- nerdery (cosplay, so many Star Trek refs, drag wrestling with vagina pun costumes)
- POCs, white-passing characters, and those with disabilities
- radical self-acceptance
- and the love of two big-hearted women triumphing over everyone who doubted them…
then click this link to request an ARC
If you’re not sure you’d dig it, you can read a sample first (also at the link) – or read it here.
More soon!
