Poem: A Man

I kissed a man for the first time in years

Our mouths crushed together, something violent in it, something holy and ragged, this touching

Cold truck against my back, wet from the rain

Warm hands in my shirt, revving at my ribs

(How can this much loudness take place inside a body?)

How swift, too, my griefs vanished in the exquisite weather of his mouth

How for a few warped minutes I didn’t miss you.

(Not even a little.)
