Haiku for Adulthood #27-#32

Written while waiting for a bus in the rain on the way to a friend’s birthday brunch.

I know I shouldn’t

but I can’t stop searching for

myself in your words.

________

Forgive me. I err

on the side of excess. It’s

up and up and up…

________

Anticipation!

So similar to dread, no?

You are worth the sweat.

________

The loss was enough

to glimpse the tenderness I

didn’t know I craved.

________

Your face, your hands are

a sweet cement perfume I

want to erase me.

________

I’d give anything

to be defied and defined

by you once again.
