You’re right of course, to

call me a fool, but not to

resent me for it.

Your love, this splendid,

heroic passion, is more

gift than dismissal.

I ask not for happiness,

just for the right to

love you, and love you.

Inspiration comes

only after loss. Better

to write than to beg.

(Not quite haiku)

You called me many things.

It was only a matter of time

before you called me out, as well.

There’s no room for fear

in love. You’re either really

lucky, or really lonely.
